Graphic Design - Contract Per-Project

Beyond Indigo is seeking graphic designers for the creation and implementation of websites and print collateral for the grief aftercare and veterinary professions. Duties include website and interactive design, HTML front end code, print design and branding. Services will be contracted on a per-project basis, up to 20 hours per week.

The ideal candidate should be proficient in design for both print and the web, with a thorough knowledge of the processes and requirements of each medium. Good communication skills and sensitivity to the needs of the audience are a must. Our clients include funeral homes, grief support providers, veterinarians and related businesses. Work must be appropriate to these venues, accessible and user-friendly while maintaining a high standard of design.

Website responsibilities include implementation of design mockups as HTML/CSS templates that our programmers will convert into dynamic PHP sites. Knowledge of PHP or other server side languages is not a requirement, though experience with designing and implementing HTML code for dynamic websites is a big plus. Projects also may include an occasional Flash component.

The majority of work is currently on the web/interactive side, but we also perform print advertising and collateral services for our clients as well as for our own internal marketing. Print projects include newspaper and magazine advertising, flyers, posters, direct mail, t-shirts and promotional materials. The designer will have to be familiar with production requirements for a variety of printing processes and may be asked to coordinate with printers and publications on technical matters. Light copywriting and editing skills are a plus but certainly not required.

Experience Requirements:

• Website graphics and interface design
• Print design and production
• Logo design
• HTML, CSS, Flash. Server side scripting languages a plus but not a requirement.
• Light copywriting and editing skills, or experience working with clients in the funeral or grief support industries are a plus but not required.

Software Requirements

• Adobe CS suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (minimum CS1)
• Macromedia Studio, including Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks (minimum MX 2004)
• All major browsers for testing (IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari)
