Some myths of heaven and earth

In the Kojiki, there is a story of the White Rabbit of Inaba. This rabbit wanted to cross from his home on the island of Oki to the mainland. The white rabbit of Inaba asked a shark to gather all his shark relatives together so he could count them. As they lined up, the rabbit pretended to count and raced across their backs, heading for the mainland. The last shark, realizing they had been deceived, strips the rabbit from head to foot of his fur.
