Teens & griefAdults have a tendency to dismiss the intense suffering of teens. Teens who have to deal with the loss of a parent, grandparent, sibling or other family member may suffer intensely. And Teens are very skilled at hiding the intensity of their grief. Because they tend to hide grief they often develop behavior problems at a later date with may not be "linked" to their grief by parents, school teachers and counselors or others who interact with the child on a daily basis.
When God Became A ParentChildren and their grief are often ignored. In dealing with your own grief, it may be easy to overlook a child who seems to be doing fine. Like people in this study, your child may be ignoring his or her own feelings in a desire to protect you from having to care for them in your time of need.
